US Strong Sandy Roundtable Discussion – How do we fund much-needed disaster relief and preparedness?
October 25th – Ocean County College Arts and Community Center from 8:00-10:30am
Join a thoughtful discussion with Sandy-affected residents, businesses, organizations, local elected officials and thought leaders to discuss the true financial impact of extreme weather like Hurricane Sandy.
Many elected officials are now saying what shore residents know – we are not ready for the next storm. We haven’t even recovered from Sandy. Knowing what we know now about the huge personal and financial toll that Sandy caused, how can we protect our communities? How can we ensure federal emergency relief and storm preparedness programs are funded?
With the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather across the nation, US Strong, a nonpartisan national campaign, has launched an effort to call on Congress to create a federal dedicated extreme weather relief and protection fund to help communities before and after the extreme weather event. Read US Strong just released report.
We hope you can join Ocean County State Senator Robert Singer, representatives of US Strong and other special guests including business leaders, homeowners and local government officials.
